Dr. Debbie Gelber

Dr. Debbie Gelber just completed her D.M.A. in Piano with an emphasis in Vocal Collaboration at Texas Tech this past May. She originally hails from Pittsburgh, PA and received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music Education and Piano Performance from West Virginia University. She was the choir teacher at O.L. Slaton Junior High School in Lubbock for eight years, and her choirs and students obtained numerous top honors in various competitions.  She has also recently served as music director for Texas Tech’s productions of Footloose and Urinetown, as well as  numerous productions at the Garza Theatre and Lubbock Community Theatre. She has served as assistant musical director/accompanist for Lubbock Moonlight Musicals and will be music directing the brand new Moonlight Dinner Theatre season. Debbie occupies her time by playing for various church services, attending many evening rehearsals, coaching singers, working for Weight Watchers, and training for marathons. Her husband is Texas Tech theatre professor, Dr. Bill Gelber.
